LOCATION: Eastern Canada


BASIC FUNCTION: Assist with the maintenance, repair and installation all electronic equipment.



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • The candidate must have successfully completed a course in electronics technology at a recognized training institution followed by additional training and/or experience involving AC/DC drive systems, SCR’s and PLC controls
  • 3+ Years experience as an offshore Electronic Technician
  • Knowledge of all technical calculations required for electronic operation of equipment
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
  • Must have:
  • Basic Survival Training
  • H2S Alive
  • First Aid
  • WHMIS 2015
  • Fall Protection
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Hazardous Area EX Training



  • Carry out daily inspections and maintenance on electronic equipment are carried out.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems in relation to Subsea BOP equipment and drilling package instrumentation and electronics
  • Communicate equipment problems or breakdown information via direct supervisor to Field Support Group.
  • Carry out assigned duties in a safe manner according to Company policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in weekly safety meetings and pre job meetings as required
  • Comply with the permit to work system is in place and followed.
  • Carry out periodic maintenance according to the Preventive Maintenance System guidelines and coordinate same with supervisor and other department heads.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of all electronic systems including Dynamic Positioning, communication, data acquisition, computers and navigational equipment.
  • Assist in carrying out installation, calibration, and modification to electronic systems and components.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of spares in order to fulfil maintenance requirements – inform the Chief Electronic Technician when there is need to re-order.
  • Inform supervisor and other department heads of any technical problems or limitations that may affect the safe operation of the rig.
  • Ensure that reports for repair and maintenance of equipment are accurate and complete.
  • Assist in providing information for maintenance and repair budget.
  • Report any incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situations to supervisor and other department heads.
