MARINE SECTION LEADER

 

COMPANY/CLIENT: Seadrill

REPORTS TO: Offshore Installation Manager

DEPARTMENT: Marine

LOCATION: Offshore Nova Scotia

TYPE OF RIG: Semisubmersible, West Aquarius

ROTATION: 21/21

 

JOB SUMMARY: Assist the OIM in promoting safety awareness and safe work practice among all the personnel on board. Responsible for the deck and marine operations in support of the drilling program, and Manage and supervise maintenance of the Tender and related equipment

 

PREREQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • OIM Certificate (Semi-Tenders)
  • Stability Course (Tenders)
  • Crane Operator (Pedestal-offshore)
  • Marine License – Barge Master License
  • DP unlimited ticket required
  • 3+ years previous experience in a role with 6th generation semi-sub drilling rig

 

Physical Requirements

  • Seeing – Lifting operations /vessel to vessel operations /Anchor Handling operations
  • Color Vision – operating controls
  • Depth Perception – Lifting Operations  / Crane Operation
  • Hands – manipulating equipment / Work Station use
  • Previous Experience with 6th generation Semi-Sub considered an asset
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
  • Complete competency requirements for current position and work towards gaining competency in the next position

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Includes, but is not limited to and not in order of priority:

  • Maintaining all Ships papers and records as mandatory by survey and IMO requirements
  • Maintaining  and operating all ballast system, ensuring the correct trim of the Bessel
  • Monitoring the status of ABS reports, advising when surveys are due and making preparations accordingly
  • Making weekly inspections of both cranes and submitting signed inspection reports stating the condition of the cranes
  • Responsibility for the maintenance of the Lifting Gear Register and conduct by third party contractors of 6mth Lifting Gear Inspections, consistent with company and contractual requirements
  • Coordinating and working with the Operator Representative on all aspects of off-loading and back loading equipment to or from supply boats
  • Ensuring that the Lead Roustabout, Crane Operators, Roustabouts and AB Roustabouts are assigned work responsibilities on a shift basis
  • Keeping a daily inventory of deck loads, bulk material, fuel, and water
  • Completing the stability work sheet once daily or whenever major deck loads change
  • Responsibility for keeping the tender lined up on the platform by maintaining tension on anchor lines and keeping the anchor winches in good operating condition
  • Responsibility for maintaining the Tender in a seaworthy state, with high standards of cleaning and painting
  • Ensuring the safe offloading or back loading of tubular, general cargo, bulk, and liquid materials
  • Transferring cement from bulk storage to surge tanks during cement jobs
  • Attending all Safety and Training Courses that are deemed necessary for his job position, which are either a Company or Operator requirement
  • Conduct drills and trains personnel in scenario response consistent with the Tender Contingency and Emergency Manual requirements
  • Effectively use all safety and environmental tools employed by Seadrill (4-point check, OBS cards, PTW etc.)
  • Complete training requirements in a timely manner as per Seadrill training matrix
  • Perform all emergency duties as per designation on the station bill
