QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING:

  • Transport Canada Ship Cook certificate
  • STCW Basic Safety
  • MED Domestic Vessels (MED A1)
  • Security Training for Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities
  • Marine Medical Basic First Aid
  • CPR
  • WHMIS
  • Basic Food Safety
  • Two years previous experience as a cook
  • Commitment to quality service and food and beverage knowledge
  • Knowledge of local, provincial and federal health and sanitation laws
  • Understanding of proper use and maintenance of major kitchen equipment, including stoves, refrigeration, and dish machine
  • Experience working in food preparation in a high-volume hotel/lodge environment
  • Ability to pass a medical, drug screen, and background check
  • Professional communication skills, oral and written
  • Actively supervise, motivate and discipline employees
  • Ability to work in a high-energy and demanding environment
  • Organization and leadership skills

 

DUTIES AND RESPONISBILITIES:

  • Ensure that all stations remain stocked before and during the meal period
  • Verify that Galley staff follow all recipes and portion servings correctly
  • Maintain inventory of ship stores 
  • Train employees to company standards
