JOB SUMMARY

Carry out drilling operations as necessary in accordance with customer drilling program requirements and approved Noble policy and procedure. Implement and uphold safety and environmental compliance requirements.  Operate/monitor rig drilling equipment and support systems under the direction of the Rig Manager.  Perform/supervise drilling rig operations, maintenance, and housekeeping duties and material preservation activities as directed by customer requirements and Noble policy and procedure.  Provide direct supervision of the drilling crew in support of on-going operations.  Ensure well control for on-going drilling operations, maintaining safe operating conditions for company assets and safety of rig based personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum one (1) year’s prior experience as Assistant Driller on an installation fitted with similar equipment.
  • Cyber Chair Experience required
  • Basic Survival Training (BST)
  • H2S Alive
  • WHMIS 2015
  • Offshore IWCF Well Control Level 4 / Supervisor
  • Fall Protection
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Regulatory Awareness
  • CAPP Medical
  • Able to operate software applications as applicable to position

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Drilling Operations

  • Must have completed orientation process and be familiar with all company safety policies and procedures as outlined in the HSE Case Handbook. 
  • Ensure all operations are proceeding in a safe manner in accordance with safety policies and procedures.  Responsible for correcting and/or notifying responsible person of any unsafe acts or conditions which exist.
  • Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Rig Manager during drilling, work over and completion operations. 
  • Attend and participate in pre-tour, post-tour, special operations and weekly safety meetings.
  • Control actual drilling operations, depending on formations encountered, drilling efficiency, and problems encountered.
  • Make trips as necessary to change bits, tools, and drill string length.
  • Report any unusual occurrences encountered such as rate of penetration, mud weight, loss of circulation or other changes in hole condition to Rig Manager.
  • Conduct regular shut-in drills with all members of the drill crew.  Be able to recognize pressure problems with the hole.  Know how to line up choke manifold and stand pipe.  Recognize kicks, shut the well in and circulate out.

 

Maintenance and Repair

  • Maintain good housekeeping on the drill floor at all times.
  • Maintain upkeep of tongs, rotary, draw works and other drill floor accessory equipment.
  • Maintain drill floor inventory control of chains, rope, and other rig supplies.
  • Supervise the preventative maintenance program for drilling equipment and accessories on the rig floor. including shale shakers, mud pumps, elevators, slips and other related equipment.

Leadership and Development

  • Direct and supervise the drill crew depending on the operations being carried out.
  • Continuous training and development of subordinate personnel through on-the-job training or other training as deemed necessary by Noble.
  • Carry out annual appraisals.  Ensure that appraisals reflect subordinate’s current abilities and identify additional training.
  • Encourage appropriate professional development and training opportunities for employees.
