Chief Cook


LOCATION: Offshore Newfoundland


ROTATION: 30 day placement

POSITION: Temporary



  • Transport Canada Ship’s Cook Certificate or professional cooking certificate from an accredited institution
  • Commitment to quality service and food
  • Basic math skills
  • Commitment to quality service and food and beverage knowledge
  • Knowledge of local, provincial and federal health and sanitation laws
  • Understanding of proper use and maintenance of major galley equipment, including stoves, refrigeration, and dish machine
  • Experience working in food preparation in a high-volume environment
  • Food Safe Certificate considered an asset
  • Able to lift and carry 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Ability to pass a medical, drug screen, and background check


Mandatory certificates: Transport Canada Ship Cook Certification, STCW Basic Safety within the last 5 years, Marine Medical



  • Prepare and cook full course meals
  • Ensure that all stations remain stocked before and during the meal period
  • Plan menus
  • Receive product by verifying invoice and freshness of merchandise
  • Inventory control

At times, you will work in hot or cold areas; the area becomes congested and noisy during busy periods. Physical demands include a lot of standing, walking and heavy lifting. There are multiple hot surfaces, wet floors, sharp knives and other implements.
