LOCATION : Offshore Newfoundland

 

TYPE OF RIG : DP3 Self Propelled, Semi Submersible MODU, 6th Generation RAM Rig

ROTATION : 21/21

START DATE: August 2017

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full Time, 15 Month Contract

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

 

BASIC FUNCTION: Assist with the maintenance, repair and installation all electronic equipment onboard the rig.

 

PREREQUISITES / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Work experience and demonstrated ability of oral and written communications may be substituted in lieu of formal education.
  • The candidate must have successfully completed a course in electronics technology at a recognized training institution followed by additional training and/or experience involving AC/DC drive systems, SCR’s and PLC controls
  • 2+ Years experience as an Electronic Technician
  • Knowledge of all technical calculations required for electronic operation of the drilling unit and basic computer skills.
  • Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates.
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.
  • Must have Basic Survival Training, H2S Alive, First Aid, WHMIS 2015, Fall Protection and Confined Space Entry, Hazardous Area EX Training

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

OPERATIONS/MAINTENANCE:

  • Carry out daily inspections and maintenance on electronic equipment are carried out.
  • Comply with the permit to work system is in place and followed.
  • Carry out periodic maintenance according to the Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) guidelines and coordinate same with supervisor and other department heads.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of all electronic systems including Dynamic Positioning, communication, data acquisition, computers and navigational equipment.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems in relation to Subsea BOP equipment and drilling package instrumentation and electronics
  • Assist in carrying out installation, calibration, and modification to electronic systems and components.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of spares in order to fulfil maintenance requirements – inform the Chief Electronic Technician when there is need to re-order.
  • Inform supervisor and other department heads of any technical problems or limitations that may affect the safe operation of the rig.
  • Ensure that reports for repair and maintenance of equipment are accurate and complete.
  • Assist in providing information for maintenance and repair budget.
  • Assist in providing information for maintenance and repair budget.
  • Assist with the implementation of the outstanding recommendations from audits, as issued by Clients, Regulatory Authorities or rig management
  • Communicate equipment problems or breakdown information via direct supervisor to Field Support Group.

QHSE:

  • Carry out assigned duties in a safe manner according to Company policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in weekly safety meetings and pre job meetings as required
  • Report any incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situations to supervisor and other department heads.
  • Respond to emergency situations as per designation on station bill.
  • Assist in preparing Job Safety Analysis for hazardous situations.
  • Ensure all relevant safety procedures and practices are adhered to during mechanical maintenance work
  • Assist in ensuring a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping is maintained onboard the rig.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements for environmental protection are complied with.

PERSONNEL:

  • Meets the training requirements as per the applicable training matrix
  • Assist with the supervision and training of the Electrical Trainee.
  • Maintain discipline onboard and ensure compliance with Company disciplinary procedures.
